On September 24, 2026, we had the great honor of participating in the ceremonial centenary celebration of the Student Chemical Society of Gdańsk University of Technology (NKCh SPG). This remarkable gathering brought together multiple generations of chemistry enthusiasts: from current students and doctoral candidates, to alumni, to distinguished faculty members and researchers.
During the event, the current President of the Student Chemical Society of Gdańsk University of Technology, Alan Kreft, summarized the organization's past achievements while outlining ambitious research challenges for the coming years. There was also a look back into history—Łukasz Katlewicz took the audience on a fascinating journey to the university's origins, recalling the determination and perseverance of the first Polish students in Gdańsk.
A particularly poignant and moving moment was the honoring of former Faculty Advisors of the Society. It was a heartfelt testament to the invaluable impact that support, patience, and guidance from experienced mentors have on young researchers. The jubilee also provided a platform for exchanging experiences during an intergenerational panel debate entitled “100 Years of Chemistry Between Us”. The event culminated in a splendid artistic performance by former President of the Society, Emilia Osowska, proving that the exact sciences can go hand in hand with art.
We extend our warmest congratulations to the Board, Members, and Friends of NKCh SPG on this wonderful centenary! We wish you boundless energy, further pioneering projects, and continued success throughout your next century of activity!
